PIK Pivot Points Pro — The Complete User Guide
Daily, weekly & monthly pivots in five formulas, with a live on-chart control panel — built for MNQ, NQ & ES traders and funded accounts.
By Sut P
Pivot points are among the oldest and most widely watched support-and-resistance tools in trading. They take yesterday's range and project a set of price levels for today — a pivot, a stack of resistances above it, and a stack of supports below. Because so many traders watch the same levels, price has a habit of reacting at them.
PIK Pivot Points Pro plots those levels for three timeframes at once — daily, weekly, and monthly — in your choice of five industry-standard formulas, and lets you switch formula, restyle any level, and toggle periods from a control panel that lives right on the chart. This guide explains what pivot points are, exactly how each formula is calculated, and how traders put the tool to work.

A pivot point is a single price — the average of the previous period's high, low, and close — that acts as the day's balance point. From that pivot, a formula projects resistance levels above (R1, R2, R3…) and support levels below (S1, S2, S3…). Together they form a ladder of reference prices for the session ahead.
The tool comes from the trading floor. Before electronic charts, floor traders needed a fast way to mark the day's likely turning points using only yesterday's numbers — no computer required, just a pivot and a few additions. The levels stuck around because they work as a shared reference: when a large slice of the market is watching the same round-number ladder, those prices become places where orders cluster, and clustered orders create real reactions. That's the self-fulfilling nature of pivots — they matter partly because everyone watches them.
Three ideas are worth locking in before we go further:
- Pivots use the prior period. Today's daily pivots are built from yesterday's high/low/close. This week's weekly pivots use last week's range. This month's monthly pivots use last month's. The current period never uses its own (unfinished) data.
- They're a step function. Each level holds perfectly flat across its whole period, then jumps to a new value when the next period begins. That's why pivots draw as clean horizontal shelves, not sloping lines.
- They're not predictive. Pivots don't forecast direction. They mark where reactions are more likely, giving you a structure to plan around — targets, invalidation points, and confluence zones.
How the Levels Are Calculated
PIK Pivot Points Pro gives you five formulas. They all start from the prior period's High (H), Low (L), and Close (C) — DeMark also uses the Open (O). Here's exactly what each one computes, so you know precisely what you're looking at.
1 · Standard (Floor)
The classic. The most widely watched ladder, which makes it the most self-fulfilling. A great default.
P = (H + L + C) / 3 R1 = 2P − L S1 = 2P − H R2 = P + (H − L) S2 = P − (H − L) R3 = H + 2(P − L) S3 = L − 2(H − P)
2 · Fibonacci
Same pivot as Standard, but the levels are spaced by Fibonacci ratios of the prior range — a natural fit if fib retracements are already part of your read.
P = (H + L + C) / 3 Range = H − L R1 = P + 0.382 × Range S1 = P − 0.382 × Range R2 = P + 0.618 × Range S2 = P − 0.618 × Range R3 = P + 1.000 × Range S3 = P − 1.000 × Range
3 · Woodie
Weights the close more heavily in the pivot (note the 2C), so the ladder leans toward where the period actually finished. Extended here to four levels a side.
PP = (H + L + 2C) / 4 R1 = 2·PP − L S1 = 2·PP − H R2 = PP + (H − L) S2 = PP − (H − L) R3 = H + 2(PP − L) S3 = L − 2(H − PP) R4 = R3 + (H − L) S4 = S3 − (H − L)
4 · Camarilla
Levels cluster tightly around the prior close using a 1.1-based fraction of the range. Intraday mean-reversion traders lean on the 3rd levels (R3/S3) as reversal zones and the 4th levels (R4/S4) as breakout triggers. This is the only formula that fills all four levels a side by default.
Range = H − L R1 = C + Range × 1.1/12 S1 = C − Range × 1.1/12 R2 = C + Range × 1.1/6 S2 = C − Range × 1.1/6 R3 = C + Range × 1.1/4 S3 = C − Range × 1.1/4 R4 = C + Range × 1.1/2 S4 = C − Range × 1.1/2
5 · DeMark
A minimalist projection: one resistance and one support, chosen conditionally by where the prior close sat relative to its open. Clean charts, fewer lines.
If C < O: X = H + 2L + C If C > O: X = 2H + L + C If C = O: X = H + L + 2C P = X / 4 R1 = X/2 − L S1 = X/2 − H
This is why the indicator stores the prior Open as well as the H/L/C — DeMark needs it.
Daily, Weekly & Monthly — Three Timeframes at Once
The real power of pivots is layering the timeframes. PIK Pivot Points Pro plots all three simultaneously and tags every label so you always know which is which: D· for daily, W· for weekly, M· for monthly.
Daily (session-based)
Built from the prior session's range, respecting your instrument's trading hours. On futures like MNQ/NQ/ES this correctly treats each session as one day, so your daily pivots line up with how the contract actually trades — not a raw calendar day.
Weekly
Built from the prior week's range. These are the levels swing-oriented intraday traders use to frame where price sits within the bigger weekly picture.
Monthly
Built from the prior calendar month's range. Slow-moving, heavyweight levels — the kind that anchor a whole month's trade and often mark major turning points.
⚠ You need enough history loaded
A level can only appear once a full prior period exists in the loaded data. Fresh chart with only a few days on it? The monthly and weekly levels won't draw yet — that's the indicator protecting you from levels built on incomplete data, not a bug. Increase your chart's "Days to load" so at least one prior week and one prior month are present, and they'll appear.

The On-Chart Control Panel
This is what sets Pro apart. Instead of opening the indicator settings window every time you want to change something, PIK Pivot Points Pro puts a live control panel on the chart, lower-left. Everything updates the instant you touch it:
- Formula — switch between the five formulas from a dropdown; the whole ladder recomputes live.
- Periods — toggle Daily, Weekly, and Monthly on or off independently.
- Levels — for each level (Pivot, R1–R4, S1–S4): enable it, set its color, line thickness, and line style.
- Labels — show the name, show the price, set the font size, and choose current-period-only or every-period labels.
- Minimize — collapse the panel to a small title chip when you want the screen space back; expand it again in one click.
Panel settings are remembered per chart, so you can run one formula and color scheme on your MNQ chart and a completely different setup on ES — they won't step on each other.
Which Formula Should You Use?
There's no universal "best" — the right pick depends on your style and what the rest of the market is watching for your instrument. A quick guide:
| Formula | Best when… |
| Standard | You want the most widely watched, most reactive ladder. The safe default for index futures. |
| Fibonacci | Fib ratios already drive your analysis and you want pivot levels that speak the same language. |
| Woodie | You want the close weighted more heavily — useful when the settle print matters to your read. |
| Camarilla | You trade intraday mean reversion and want tight reversal zones (R3/S3) plus breakout triggers (R4/S4). |
| DeMark | You want a minimalist chart — one projected resistance and one support per period. |
Because the on-chart panel switches formula live, you can audit all five on your own instrument in seconds and keep whichever the market is respecting.
Styling the Levels
Every level is styled independently, from the panel or the settings dialog:
- Enable / disable — hide the levels you don't use to keep the chart clean (many traders run just P, R1, S1, or the Camarilla 3rd/4th levels).
- Color — a full RGB picker per level.
- Width — 1–10 px; make the pivot bold and the outer levels thin, for instance.
- Line style — Solid, Dot, Dash, DashDot, or DashDotDot, so daily/weekly/monthly can read differently at a glance.
Labels show the level name and price at the right edge, at a font size you set, and stacked labels automatically nudge apart so nothing overlaps.

How Traders Use Pivot Points
These are illustrations of how the tool is commonly interpreted — not signals or recommendations. Always apply your own plan and risk management.
1 · The pivot as a bias line
Many traders read the central pivot (P) as the day's balance point: sustained trade above it frames a bullish lean, below it a bearish one. Pullbacks toward P are watched as the market re-testing balance.
2 · Resistances and supports as targets & reaction zones
R1/S1 are the first objectives from the pivot; R2/S2 and beyond mark progressively stretched moves. Traders use them as logical take-profit areas and as spots to watch for a reaction — a rejection wick, a stall, or a clean break.
3 · Confluence across timeframes
The strongest zones are where levels from different timeframes stack up — say a daily R1 sitting right on a weekly pivot, or a monthly S1 lining up with a daily S2. Because PIK Pivot Points Pro draws all three at once, these clusters are obvious at a glance.
4 · Breakout vs. reversion
Two schools use the same levels opposite ways. Reversion traders fade tests of outer levels back toward the pivot; breakout traders wait for acceptance beyond a level (price holding through it) before continuing. Watching how price behaves at the level tells you which regime you're in.
5 · The Camarilla playbook
Camarilla users often treat R3/S3 as reversal zones (fade back toward the close) and R4/S4 as breakout triggers (momentum beyond them signals a trending day). Switch the formula to Camarilla from the panel and those levels appear instantly.
6 · Pairing pivots with VWAP
Pivots frame the day's structure; VWAP frames fair value. Where a pivot level and VWAP agree, many traders see a higher-quality zone. Our PIK VWAP Pro pairs naturally with this indicator for exactly that read.
Tips & Best Practices
- Load enough history. Bump your chart's "Days to load" so at least one prior week and prior month are present, or the weekly/monthly levels won't draw.
- Declutter deliberately. All five formulas and three periods at full ladder is a lot of lines. Turn off the timeframes and outer levels you don't trade, and minimize the panel once you're set.
- Differentiate the timeframes. Give monthly levels a heavier width or a dashed style so you never confuse an M· level with a D· level.
- Audit formulas live. Cycle the formula dropdown on your own instrument and keep whichever ladder price is respecting.
- Set-and-forget per chart. Because settings are saved per chart, build one profile for scalping and another for swing context and leave them running.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why don't my monthly (or weekly) levels show?
No completed prior period is loaded yet. Increase your chart's history so at least one full prior month/week is present, and they'll appear.
Do the levels repaint?
No. Each period's levels are fixed by the prior completed period and hold flat until the next period begins. They don't shift around inside the current period.
Does switching formula reload the indicator?
No — formula changes are live. Pick a different formula from the panel and the ladder recomputes instantly.
Can I use it on stocks or forex, not just futures?
Yes. It works on any instrument. The daily period simply follows that instrument's session definition.
Is it prop-firm safe?
PIK Pivot Points Pro is a pure charting indicator with no order-execution logic, so it isn't subject to automated-trading restrictions. As always, confirm your specific prop firm's policy on third-party NinjaScript.
